Agadir (ah-gah-DEER) - a major city in southwest Morocco and the capital of Agadir-Ida Ou Tanane province, on the shore of the Atlantic Ocean near the foot of the Atlas Mountains - Moroccan Arabic

al-Rachida (al-rah-SHE-da) - formerly known as Ksar es-Souk, an Amazigh town in east-central Morocco, in one of its most historically important regions - Moroccan (Amazigh) Arabic

Algiers (ahl-JEERZ) - storied capitol and largest city in Algeria, located on the Mediterranean coast; from the Arabic al-Jaza'ir - Arabic

alia, aliyah (ah-lee-ah) - pilgrimage - Hebrew

amira (ah-MEER-eh) - princess - Hebrew, Arabic

Amizmiz (AMZ-meez) - a Moroccan village south of Marrakech in the High Atlas mountains. - Moroccan (Amazigh) Arabic

Amourah (AHM-oo-rah) - a town in north-central Algeria - Algerian Arabic

Annaba (ah-NAH-bah) - the fourth largest city in Algeria - Tunisian Arabic

arabesque (ar-uh-BESK) - in the arts, rhythmic linear patterns of scrolling and interlacing foliage, tendrils or lines, often combined with other elements; a sinuous, spiraling, undulating, or serpentine line or linear motif; from the French to describe Moorish design, 'Arab' + -esque, a suffix meaning 'in the style of' - French

asymmetrical - not identical on both sides of a central line; unsymmetrical; lacking symmetry; uneven - English

azali (ah-ZAH-lee) - eternal; lasting - Arabic

Aziza (ah-ZEE-zeh) - the Aziza are a beneficent fairy race in African folklore - Arabic
